Not many people believe that teen political issues can be a part of a teenager’s life because at this age they are more concerned about how they look and finding a place to fit it. This is not entirely true because there are many political issues which could be of great interest to them. Some parents are actively involved in political subjects which can affect their adolescent. I does not matter what is your political leaning because every year there are new political issues.
Economy
Even though the everybody is thinking all the time about the economical state of the country nobody is thinking about the teenagers who are at in great need. Like all people, teenagers would like to get a job because they need money buy the unemployment rate is about 50% between 15 and 19 year old. Because this phenomenon is present and nobody is doing something to stop it or to improve it the economy is affected because young people can not go to college, buy a new car or buy new clothes.
Pregnancy at teenagers
One vital problem from political issues today is the abortion of so many teenagers. This has been and will always be a big problem among teenagers unless someone does something. Many adolescents have to deal with their first sexual contact at some point but because they are so young they do not have the capacity of thinking responsibly. There are a lot of teens who have friends who deal or have dealt with unwanted pregnancy and yet it still happens. The major factors that determine this are: the lack of education, the pressure coming from parents and religion.
Drinking at legal age
In spite of the fact that in most states you have to be 21 in order to be able to consume and buy alcohol teenagers still start experimenting from an early age. There is a petition running around asking for the age to be lowered to 18 years old. While many teenagers agree with this petition many parents are against it because they think that it will lead to excessive college drinking and driving under the influence of alcohol.
As you can see there are a lot of teen political issues which could be debated by teenagers they just need to be educated to fight for their rights and have the will to change things, important issues that affect them.
